Museum among the 100 largest museums of modern art in France, presents works of Picasso, Soutine, Chagall, Matisse, Masson..
The Museum of Modern Art in Céret (MAM) is one of the 100 largest museums of modern art in France. Céret was nicknamed by André Salmon "the Mecca of Cubism" and this museum is the result of the visits and stays of the greatest artists of the 20th century in the town and its surroundings. It presents works by Picasso, Soutine, Chagall, Matisse, Masson... Just to name a few! Few people know it, but Céret, like its neighbour Collioure, has always attracted artists of all times, and the works exhibited are proof that the light of Catalonia is incomparable and that it is good to live there. The "new museum", with its recently completed extension, gives the works on display a new reading of art accessible to all. Congratulations also to the curator, who has established a partnership with the French Ministry of Education in order to train teachers and provide them with educational tools for the implementation of art-related activities. Bravo also for the room reserved for children, on the top floor of the museum, where they too can let their imagination run wild, with some - it must be said - showing real talent. Finally, bravo again for having allowed musiciansto wander, on certain days, among the visitors for a very successful visit with music. A place not to be missed, we would even say: unmissable. This museum, like the city of Céret, leaves no one indifferent.
