Atypical museum exposing a superb collection of musical instruments from around the world, for a cultural and sensory outing.

MúSIC is an atypical museum because here everything is alive, sound and awake. It brings together a superb collection of world music instruments: 560 instruments spread over 3 levels in 12 geographical universes. All the continents are represented because the space wants to be a place of exchange between the cultures of East and West. The sensitive experience is lived as a preamble to any other form of knowledge. For a cultural and sensory afternoon, this is a beautiful idea.

À ne pas manquer. Plein de représentations de la musique de différents coins du monde et spécialement de la musique catalane.

Joli musée de la musique, de nos jours, une discipline devalorisee par l emploi des automatismes!

The museum was really fascinating. The collection of instruments is pretty massive, and includes videos of some of the more unique and obscure instruments in use. The only downside is that it’s not kid friendly. There are less than a handful of hands-on instruments on display, so young children are likely to be quite bored as they can’t touch anything - including various displays that are quite enticing to little minds and hands, but are behind a tape and not for touching. Even as an adult it would be nice to be able to experience the museum through touch and sound, rather than just visual display. It’s the museum of music, and music is meant to be heard and felt.
