Welcome to the highest fortified city in France: you are here at 1,600 meters above sea level! His ramparts impress you? c'est une visite très agréable, un circuit facile qui fait le tour de la ville et qui permet aux enfants de découvrir les fortifications sans trop se fatiguer. une étape de plus quand on sillonne les Pyrénées sur les traces de Vauban !

Cette visite est un élément clé du circuit des citadelles de Vauban dans les Pyrénées Orientales, à une époque où l'Espagne avait des velléités de reconquérir le Roussillon. C'est un des plus beaux exemples en France des fortifications au tracé en étoile qui ont fait la qualité défensive des ouvrages de Vauban. Superbement conservées, ces murailles nous font revivre le passé de la région.
