THEATRE DE L'ARCHIPEL
an architectural complex that was designed to pay tribute to the culture and history of Perpigan County
Co-designed by Jean Nouvel and Brigitte Métra, the TDA was inaugurated in October 2011. Each element of this architectural complex was designed to pay tribute to the culture and history of our department. With its great acoustics, the different stages allow for ballets, plays, symphonic concerts, jazz concerts, or even internationally renowned variety artists.
Le Grenat : a building in the shape of a rounded red pebble is a tribute to the garnet, the emblematic stone of Roussillon. It houses the main concert hall (1,100 seats).
Le Carré : in Corten® steel echoes the iron mines of the Canigó whose extraction of ore has given rhythm to the life of the inhabitants of the Conflent and Vallespir for centuries. It houses a 400-seat hall.
The Tower : its colour reminds us of our roofs but also of the Castillet, of which it is exactly the same height, and also of the signal towers that stand on the mountains of the Pyrénées-Orientales. It is the stage cage.
The golden building : like the precious metal that the goldsmiths sought in the courses of the Tech and the Têt, but also like the sun of our Catalonia. It is the administrative headquarters.
The Studio : it is recognizable by its aluminium-covered tunnel shape. It is based on the dynamics of creativity and its appearance evokes the path of creation.
The Atelier Décor : entirely covered with posters, it is the memory of past shows. In 2012 the TDA obtained the label of "Scène nationale".
