The oldest part of the palace hosts cultural events throughout the year

Residence of the sovereigns of Majorca in the 13th century, this imposing palace dominates the city. It is surrounded by six towers and opens onto a gigantic central courtyard. The austere architecture is enhanced by some Gothic and Mediterranean elements. After the annexation of Roussillon, Vauban consolidated the citadel. The lower part is still occupied by the army. The oldest part hosts cultural events all year round, the hanging gardens concerts in summer.

Cette bâtisse, qui porte le nom de "palais", est plutôt austère mais vaut le coup d'oeil. Vu l'âge de sa construction (début 13ème siècle) elle est bien conservée. J'ai apprécié notamment les galeries ainsi que les chapelles. Elle n'est quasiment pas meublée et c'est dommage... Par contre lors de ma visite, il y avait une exposition qui occupait pas mal de salles rendant la visite plus attractive. Du haut de la Tour de l'Hommage on peut apprécier, quand le vent ne souffle pas, une très belle vue sur Perpignan.

despite a rather austere architecture it from the majesty this imposing palace! Its hanging gardens a superb view of Perpignan.
The D organ, has my direction, chapels, including the chapel, known as the Queen. polychromies still avoided. .et the keystones " végétales" are finely engraved
