ECOPARC CATALAN

The Catalan Ecopark is a territorial project combining sustainable development, economy, territory and renewable energies. Perpignan Méditerranée is organising five activities, four of which are open-air discoveries.

First of all, guided tours of the four municipalities of Baixas, Calce, Pezilla-la-Rivière and Villeneuve-la-Rivière. Eight free guided tours of the wind farm and the historical and cultural heritage of the four communes.

The multi-sport Raid of the Catalan Ecopark, first edition, is postponed on Sunday, October 17 for health reasons set up by the Prefecture of the Eastern Pyrenees! On the programme: mountain biking, orienteering, biathlon and archery in the heart of the wind farm, the paths in the hinterland, between the Canigó and the Mediterranean, through the vineyards, pine forests and scrubland.

Finally, the heart of the Ecoparc Catalan project is the area where the most powerful onshore wind farm in France will be set up, with 96 MW of power to cover the domestic electricity needs of a town of 120,000 inhabitants, the population of Perpignan! This project is the result of the ambition of Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole and the communes of Baixas, Calce, Pézilla-la-Rivière and Villeneuve-la-Rivière with EDF Renouvelables. It is a real laboratory of experimentation for this territory, and a project of economic development and green growth, articulated around four axes: renewable energies, tourism, agriculture and viticulture, innovation.
