FORT LIBERIA
Fort classified as a historical monument in 2009 and currently featuring a chapel, bastions, drawbridge and also tasting.
Located on the heights of Villefranche-de Conflent, Fort Liberia offers a remarkable view of history.
Built by Vauban in the 17th century (1681) following the Treaty of the Pyrenees which ratified the division of Catalonia between France and Spain, this castle was initially a strategic point, a lock on the valley. Classified as a historical monument in 2009, the fort is now open to many tourists who come to observe the chapel, bastions, drawbridge and taste the small dishes offered by the castle's restaurant.

visite sympathique, superbes paysages sur les montagnes.
agréable balade à faire avec des enfants.
after a visit of Villefranche, I am mounted at the height by the path that follows the vehicles. The ascent is a little steep, it takes about 20min to get to the fort. The visit is very pleasant with beautiful views.
the visit is a little sporting with marches to go up and down throughout the fort.
the return by the staircase of the " thousand marches" is really to do.
