Church in Allassac, with a typical Limousin Romanesque south portal.
An impressive church in black schist enhanced by red sandstone, combining Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles and periods. The south portal is typically Limousin Romanesque, with its torus and poly-lobed inner arch. Its massive bell tower, fortified with machicolations, gives it the appearance of a fortress. Inside, the church boasts remarkable furnishings: a large Baroque altarpiece (1679) and a carved wooden pulpit by the Duhamel brothers, an 18th-century pietà and an imposing lectern.
