THE MONKS' CANAL
This site offers a nice walk in the heights and in the undergrowth of Aubazine
Classified as a historical monument in the mid-1960s, the site underwent four years of restoration work. Reopened since 2010, it offers a nice walk in the heights and in the undergrowth of Aubazine. While walking along the dike path that runs alongside the canal, one can appreciate the audacity it took for these 12th century monks to dig into the rock and build retaining walls on this steep site in order to build a pipe to supply the male monastery, which did not have access to running water!

Pas sure qu'il faille monter jusqu'au calvaire pour le retour, il suffit juste de revenir sur ses pas et profiter une deuxième fois de cet incroyable ouvrage réalisé par les moines.
