HISTORICAL VISIT
Tourist office proposing a stroll, and offering an opportunity to discover the history of the city of Brive-la-Gaillarde
At nightfall, in summer, once a week, the tourist office offers you an original walk in the streets of Brive-la-Gaillarde, torches in hand. During two hours, a guide will tell you the history of the town with a southern accent, from the Jurassic period when the sea occupied the site. You will learn that the Corrèze made a delta of thirteen arms spanned by thirteen bridges, and that many wars changed the appearance of the city completely, and that it lost its many churches. From alleyway to alleyway the architecture is commented on, the coats of arms explained and you will learn how the nickname "gaillarde" was repeatedly confirmed from the heroic resistance of the town from the Middle Ages until the Second World War.
