THE CHURCH
Church built from the 14th to the 15th century, dedicated to Saint Pardoux and which houses a pentagonal choir in Bugeat
Built on the site of a 12th century Romanesque church, the Bugeat church was built from the 14th to the 15th century. Its appearance does not fail to astonish by its contrasts: the pride of its wide bell tower-wall teased by a small ridged turret, the generous slopes of its slate roof, its massive base and its low retaining walls. It is dedicated to Saint-Pardoux, then bishop of Guéret. The building houses a pentagonal choir, a transept and a beautiful granite baptismal font dating from the 12th century, all listed as Historic Monuments. The village, occupied since the Gallo-Roman period, keeps vestiges of these remote times, visible at the place called Champ du Palais.
