Chapel nestled in a carpet of water and greenery near an old mill located in Corrèze
This chapel is situated outside the town, on the right bank of the Corrèze, near an old mill. Nestled in a carpet of water and greenery, it was built in the 15th century on a primitive sanctuary linked to the cult of water. Since the 18th century, the place has been famous for its Marian devotion. Every 8th September, the most famous pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary in the department takes place there. The festivities last for three days. It was Pierre Dulaurent, a mason worker, who brought back from Spain in 1772 a statue of the Virgin found in a stable and considered miraculous. During the Revolution, it was hidden in an attic under a beehive. The Virgin was then covered with a cape sprinkled with bees and then placed in the chapel where a fresco bears the inscription: "A Corrèze veut être, à cœur ayse y seray".
