Visit the 3 Châteaux in the heart of the village of Curemonte.
They stand in the heart of the village and two of them, located within the same enclosure, form a unique ensemble in the hands of the same owner since the 17th century. The castle of Saint-Hilaire (square towers) is the oldest. It was built at the end of the 14th century at the end of the Hundred Years' War, which made the old fortifications disappear. The castle of Plas (round towers) dates back to the middle of the 16th century. In 1940, these two castles were the property of Bel-Gazou, the daughter of the writer Colette. The latter found refuge there during the debacle and evokes her stay in his "Journal à Rebours". The third castle, that of Johannie, is right next to the hall. Its architecture bears striking similarities to that of Saint-Hilaire. Its high window overlooking the street with its Renaissance decoration is noteworthy. The noble houses, built in the 16th and 17th centuries, were inhabited by officers. Their towers are juxtaposed with all the others and give the whole a fortress-like appearance.
