THE OLD TOWN
A rocky promontory overlooking the towers of the fortress, with numerous signs, a paved grain market
It is a pleasure to stroll through the narrow streets of this rocky promontory overhung by the great towers of the fortress. Numerous signs in the most important places give you information about the place. The "Halle aux grains" (grain market) paved with small pebbles (rebuilt in the 19th century) is a must see and contains posters, texts and photos of the place. Don't miss either the common well, the perfectly preserved "work" used to shoe the oxen, the fountain of Chassang. A booklet sold at the tourist information office tells the story of Curemonte's adventure.
