This building was rebuilt on a promontory in the 12th century by Saint Dumine
This building, originally built in wood in the 6th century, was rebuilt on a promontory in the 12th century by Saint Dumine. The latter was a warrior at the time of King Clovis who retired to Gimel-les-Cascades to live as a hermit. Only the portal remains of the building, flanked by two engaged columns. To see, the modillions carved on the cornice. The gabled bell tower that crowns the facade is openwork with two bays. The cemetery was at the front. Some paving stones are still preserved as well as the burial slabs of the noble families. Excavations around the ruins have uncovered the remains of a farming village.
