CARBON TOWERS
Although smaller than the Tours towers, the Carbonnières site deserves a detour. Two massive and austere stone vessels as exiting from a rocky spur face the Bald valley, proudly keeping the passage. Place yourself between the two square towers built by large granite blocks and observe the green landscape around you, then you take the measure of the tension that racket the region in the Middle Ages. Vestiges of a fortress of the 20 th century, they had to measure between 25 and metres, the defensive south tower and the north tower of residential vocation. They were abandoned in the th century and served as a place of refuge. The trail "the secret of the Carbonnières" (45 min, 3,5 km) leads from Auyères parking to towers by the village abandoned in the middle of the th century with a chapel and a chapel.
