Located at the extreme edge of the corrézien plateau, at the borders of Limousin and Auvergne, lies the small village of Lapleau at an altitude of 600 metres. Drawing its name from the Latin «ranks» or more likely from pluvia, the place dominates the picturesque and deep gorges of the Luzège, offering in view of a vast panorama with, to the East, the mountains of Auvergne, the North-East, the Mont-Dore and its majestic Puy of Sancy and to the south, the Xaintrie with its peak of the Puy du Bassin. All around the winding valleys of the Dordogne, Luzège, Vianon and many small vagrants streams. The Rouby Castle, a beautiful 1890 th century building with a tour tower, deserves a detour, just like the church Saint-Etienne built in, which houses th and th century shrines, monstrances and polychrome wooden statues, the true treasure of the canton churches. At the entrance to the village, the Tourist Hotel is the staging point of the Lapleaucois for coffee or aperitif. Lunch in an atmosphere dedicated to the football team of the commune, old lady over 85 years old. A few meters away, the original butchery of the village is also a bar!
