MONASTERE DU JASSONNEIX
Faithful to the rule of Saint Benoit, the Trappistine sisters make excellent blueberry and red fruit jams.
The former castle of Meymac with its 100 hectare estate was bequeathed to the Abbey of La Coudre (Laval). In 1981, the first three nuns moved in. They created a guest house with about ten rooms. These are reserved for people who wish to take a step back in peace and quiet while sharing the community's liturgy. The sisters of Sainte-Marie du Jassonneix make jams and jellies from the red fruits grown on the estate (including blueberries), which are much appreciated by gourmets.
