THE MUSEUM OF THE MARIUS-VAZEILLES FOUNDATION
A museum located in Meymac, presenting the conservation and the valorization of the collections having belonged to Marius Vazeilles
Located in the former Benedictine abbey, this foundation is dedicated to the conservation and promotion of the collections that belonged to Marius Vazeilles (1881-1973), a former general guard of the Eaux et Forêts, but also an archaeologist and political activist, known for his humanist commitment on the Plateau de Millevaches. A modern scenography presents the local archaeological and ethnographic collections explaining the evolution of the landscape, geology and everyday life in Haute-Corrèze: tools from different prehistoric periods, funerary furniture, 3D video of the Gallo-Roman site, numerous objects of popular art. The attic room has been converted into a former farmhouse and contains many tools that are in danger of disappearing. Programming of conferences and workshops.
