SAINT-PIERRE CHURCH
Church with a magnificent altarpiece made between 1652 and 1704 by Pierre and Jean Duhamel
Saint-Pierre church is home to an exceptional altarpiece created between 1652 and 1704 by the Duhamel brothers, master sculptors from Tulle. This unique work is entirely carved in walnut and measures 14 meters high by 12 meters wide. The panels represent episodes from the life of Saint Peter and the great mysteries of Christianity. They are surmounted by four monumental statues: Saint Jerome, Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Saint John the Baptist. At the very top: the Ascension of Christ and the dove embodying the Holy Spirit. A must-see!
