THE REMAINS OF THE COACHES
Discovery of a sanctuary and the foundations of a Roman villa at Pérols-sur-Vézère.
Located on the border of the communes of Saint-Merd-les-Oussines and Pérols-sur-Vézère on the D78, the Gallo-Roman remains at Les Cars date back to the 2nd century. A sanctuary, or what's left of it, welcomes you in a pile of stones from which you can still make out the ornaments. A further 200 metres down, without any particular indications, you come to the foundations of a villa and its thermal baths. An enormous 8-ton cistern carved from granite remains in perfect condition, while the various rooms of the house and the underfloor heating system are perfectly outlined.
