PERLIM
This GIE, which was born in the late 1960 s, at the initiative of a handful of growers and fruit traders from North Perigord and Limousin (Perlim is a contraction of Périgord-Limousin) is a group of producers who produce, store, base and market apples, walnuts and walnut kernels from Limousin and Périgord. This company had a long arboreal tradition, since in this region the many varieties of local apples were shipped in bulk by whole wagons to Paris. From his creation Perlim campaigned for the recognition of the typical of his products. A spearhead and an influential member of the Association Apples du Limousin (www.pomme-limousin.org), she invested through her producers in the case of the controlled appellation of origin. Since June 2004, the apple of the Limousin is crowned by AOC, making it the first apple to benefit from this official sign of quality, the only one to translate a link to the land while the nut and kernels had obtained AOC in May 2002 (www.noixduperigord.com).
