CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF BANNS
This church was attended by the inhabitants of the castle district and the servants of the lords
The parish church of Notre-Dame-des-Bancs owes its name to the "criée" (auction) that was made of the news on its square for the attention of the inhabitants of the village. When it was built in the 13th century, it was called Notre-Dame de la Basse Cour because it was located inside the castle. Former castral chapel in Romanesque style, rebuilt in the 15th century, it was frequented by the inhabitants of the castle district and the servants of the lords. Its architecture is out of the ordinary: a square base, walls built with small stones as for secular buildings and a wooden balcony at the back which can be reached by a small staircase. Its bell tower, rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century, is opened on its left side by a Louis XIII style door.
