MUSEUM OF FOLK ARTS AND TRADITIONS OF THE UPPER AND MIDDLE VEZÈRE REGION
Museum presenting a heritage testifying the local daily life in the past, such as old regional furniture, crafts
This museum, run by the Friends of Treignac's heritage, presents a heritage that bears witness to local daily life in the past: from antique regional furniture to agricultural, forestry and craft tools and traditional cooking utensils. The museum is housed in a beautiful 16th century, three-storey building, former residence of the famous Corrèze Bonapartist lawyer Charles Lachaud (1817-1882) whose family also owns another beautiful Renaissance residence opposite Les Halles. It was also the residence of Marc Sangnier (1873-1950), founder of the youth hostels. In this building, which is an important part of the memory of the historic city, you can admire the beautiful facade with medallions on the first floor and during the visit the vaulted cellar, the monumental fireplaces and a spiral staircase.
