THE ENCLOSURE AND THE ALVERGE

Quartier de l'Alverge, which holds a special place in the memories of lovers of the old town
The fortified medieval town included the "enclos" (the historic center) and the suburbs, including the Alverge suburb, which was densely populated in the 14th century. Here you'll find beautiful half-timbered houses, the famous Alverge tower (15th century) and, above all, the Juyés de Seilhac house, a noble residence built under François I and preserved intact from cellar to attic. Explore this maze of staircases and steep alleyways, where many buildings have retained their medieval appearance. From the puy Saint-Clair, where you'll find the 17th-century church of Saint-Pierre, you'll have a magnificent view over the Corrèze.
