MAUGEIN ACCORDION FACTORY
Manufacture d'Accordéons Maugen, place where accordion parts, chromatic or diatonic, are made and assembled.
In 1919, Jean Maugein, the founder of the brand, moved to Tulle with his two brothers in a small workshop. Since then, it is still in Tulle that the 5,000 pieces that make up an average accordion are manufactured and assembled. Chromatic or diatonic, the wooden cases are made and decorated at the customer's request while the bellows are meticulously adjusted. Then comes the work of the blades, the buttons, the tuner, to the "absolute" ear, i.e. without the help of an instrument. A multitude of parts, each one smaller and more precise than the other, gradually give birth to the object which still has to undergo many adjustments. Between 100 and 200 hours later, the finished straps piano will finally reach the shoulders of the greatest virtuosos on the international stages or of lovers of fine craftsmanship, thanks to the know-how of the companions, as in the Belle Epoque.
