COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF ST. PANTALEON
Church with a carved and gilded wooden altarpiece, dated from the last third of the century and signed by the Tournié workshop
Its construction was not decided until 1593, after the conversion to Catholicism of Henry IV in order to appease the spirits, but it was not consecrated until 1668. One enters the church through a semicircular porch and a narthex surmounted by the bell tower. Inside, the ribbed vaults of the two bays of the nave and the side chapels combine the yellow and white of the stones. The centrepiece of the furniture is the carved and gilded wooden altarpiece, dated from the last third of the 17th century and signed by the Tournié workshop, which surmounts a sarcophagus altar. Six scenes from the Passion of Christ surround the central tabernacle, which depicts the crucifixion. Rare in Corrèze, there is also a second tabernacle decorated with the immolated Lamb. Admire the quality of the decoration in bas-relief, enhanced by golden leaf statuettes.
