This castle, adorned with its two towers, still stands proudly on its rock and motte castrale

Independent until its takeover by Louis XV in 1738, Turenne, seat of the Viscounty, ruled over a vast region encompassing 1,200 villages and 11 parishes, from the Xaintrie to the Périgord and Bas-Limousin. Today, the château still stands proudly on its rock and motte castrale. Discover its sheer size by visiting the 14th-century guard room, and take in the splendid view over the valley by climbing the stone staircase of the Tour de César, a former lookout with 2.5 m thick walls (12th century). A fully immersive visit to this part of Corrèze's history!
