A magnificent landscaped park of a 19th century castle, transformed into an arboretum with waterfalls and a conservatory orchard in Ussel.
Become unexpected for the estate of Diège Castle! A private property built in the 1970 th century, acquired in the mid s by the municipality, he has been hosting the Sport Nature station of the Country of Ussel for five years. Its park of special botanical wealth has been renovated and transformed into a arboretum and is open for free to the public. Designed by a landscape designer at the time the castle was built, there were about fifty species: large specimens of redwood and Douglas, a pool of aquatic plants, small waterfalls in the slope of the castle. These latest developments are reminiscent of how the water points on Ussel framing the neighbourhoods: the inhabitants were there to fill up their pots and the water system is still smart. Following the storm of 1999, the conservatory was renovated and has been renovated from ancient varieties of apples, but also from pear, plum and cherry trees. To facilitate discovery, all plants are labelled.
