THE SAINT-RÉMY FOUNTAIN
Fountain with a simple vault integrated in the slope in Varetz, whose virtues would be of three kinds
This fountain is worth mentioning for the specific veneration to which it has been subjected: it is a "good fountain" patronized by Saint Remy, the bishop who conferred the baptism on Clovis. Its virtues are said to be of three kinds: healing of eye ailments, the removal of fevers and the arrival of rain after the procession. On the promontory was established the Commandery of the Temple of Mons, property of the Knights of Malta, which was set on fire in the 16th century and sold as national property during the Revolution, before being bought by the in-laws of the writer Colette. It has a simple vault integrated into the embankment and protected by a gate. It is not open to the public for the moment.
