BUSSEAU VIADUCT
The first railway viaduct in France with a picturesque and green setting, classified as a historical monument
You have to go to Busseau-sur-Creuse to admire, in the picturesque and green setting of the Creuse Valley, the first railway viaduct in France. Built in 1864 by the Paris-Orléans railway company, this metal structure, 286 m long and 56 m high, facilitated the crossing of the Creuse Valley and allowed trains to transport coal extracted from the Ahun coalfields. It rests on five piers, each consisting of eight cast iron columns. Since 1975, it has been listed as a historical monument.
