JACQUES LAGRANGE GARDEN
A garden lined with steles and burial chests with medieval crosses and sarcophagi as well as benches, a fountain and flagstones
This French-style garden is named after the painter and cartonnier Jacques Lagrange, who bought the land, along with the Hôtel Jorrand, with the aim of transforming it into a museum. After his death in 1995, his companion donated the site to the commune of Ahun. In keeping with the artist's intention, the garden is now dotted with steles and burial chests retracing the history of Ahun since Gallo-Roman times. These include medieval crosses and sarcophagi. More recent elements, still in local stone, have been added: benches, a fountain, flagstones... A metal frieze pays tribute to Jacques Lagrange, using one of his motifs.
