CHAPEL OF ST. MARGARET'S DAISY
17th century chapel converted into a museum, with a permanent exhibition of Gallo-Roman remains discovered in the vicinity
Overlooking the town, the Sainte-Marguerite chapel was built in the 17th century. Equipped with a bell wall, it housed, during the Revolution, the first town hall of Auzances. Today, it has been converted into a museum, housing, in the form of a permanent exhibition, the Gallo-Roman remains discovered in the surrounding area, particularly in the Gallo-Roman villa of Coux. "You didn't just want to evoke the past, but to make this past the image of the future (...). You have created a fire in Auzances, a centre of culture to which I wish immortality. ». Thus spoke Jean Guitton, the Creuse philosopher and member of the Académie française, in 1971 about this place.
