ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
Church with remarkable reliquary arm and superb statue of Archangel Gabriel
This church is the former chapel of the commandery of the order of St. John of Jerusalem on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Built at the end of the 12th century and enlarged in the 15th century (north and south chapels), it formed one of the corners of the priory. The 19th century wall decorations have been restored as well as the stained glass windows. One notices a 15th century silver reliquary arm, a superb statue of the archangel Gabriel holding a scallop-shaped font in his hands. The organ is the oldest in the region (19th century). It has been classified as a Historic Monument, as has the church, since 1913.
