Around Bourganeuf, many hikes to discover the beauty of its natural resources
Many walks are made around Bourganeuf: the Orchard Gorges, with the house of Emile de Girardin and Delphine Gay, the Wishing Stone and the forest of Mérignat, a classified site for the beauty of its cliffs. The gorges punctuated with rocky projections are a great place to walk. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the site was at the origin of the development and industrial activity of the village as its waters fed mills and factories. Note the mountain bike path and the granite sculptures installed by the Yugoslav artist Marina Abramovic. The stones with legend are numerous. Some are said to be inhabited by beings, others by animals, natural or fantastic. Still others are said to be evil or to promote marriage within the year. The rocks of Mazuras (Faux-Mazuras), the Devil's gully (Le Monteil-au-Vicomte), the rock of Besse (Saint-Pierre-Chérignat), the dolmen of Marlhac (Saint-Martin-Sainte-Catherine), the rock of the Bride (Bourganeuf), the shaky rock (Saint-Pierre Chérignat) are a few examples. Without forgetting the Jarrauds waterfalls in Saint-Martin-Chateau.
