BOUSSAC CASTLE
It was in this impressive château that the famous Lady of the Unicorn tapestries were discovered.
Built in the 12th and 13th centuries before being remodeled in the 16th and 17th centuries, the impressive Château de Boussac blends into its green setting. It was here that George Sand made frequent visits and wrote part of her novel Jeanne. The famous Lady and the Unicorn tapestries were discovered in this château and adorned the Salle des Gardes until 1882. They are now in the Musée de Cluny in Paris. It is not known how this work came to be in Boussac. Restored in the 1960s, it is now a historic building open to visitors.
