BRIDGE OVER THE ARCH
A charming three-arched bridge spanning the Voueize river, a historic site in Chambon-sur-Voueize, waiting to be discovered.
Although often described as Romanesque, the charming bridge that crosses the Voueize was built later, between the 14th and 15th centuries. Curiously, its three arches are asymmetrical, with the one on the eastern side featuring, in addition to a narrower width, a more clearly broken arch than the other two. The bridge is associated with the dynastic feud between Charles VII and his son, Louis XI. It was while crossing this bridge that Charles VII captured Chambon, who had chosen to support his rebellious son Louis XI.
