VILLEMONTEIX CASTLE
A discovery of the frameworks, with a lot of information on the tapestries and the architecture through a guided tour
The Castle of Villemonteix is one of the most elegant civil constructions of the late Middle Ages in Creuse. In the centre of the façade, the projecting square tower houses a spiral staircase. The pepperpot towers, connected by a machicolated covered walkway, have watchtowers. The building has been little modified since the 15th century. Once abandoned, the restored castle offers very interesting furniture, including a double Pleyel piano, beautiful Aubusson, Felletin and Flanders tapestries from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and Sèvres porcelain. This castle is inhabited and furnished, which gives it a great cachet. The guided tour also gives access to the roof frames and provides a wealth of information about the tapestries and architecture. A delight for families!

Beautiful agricultural buildings surround the castle and the presence of dynamic and noisy geese, remind us that we are in the rurality and not in Chambord or Chenonceau.
Located 20 mi of Aubusson, on the city of Saint-Pardoux-les-Cards.
