THE SCYTHE DAM
Dam built on the Dorat, a very rare achievement that exists in only two examples in Europe.
Built on the Dorat river, this dam, 16.50 m high and 130 m long, is remarkable for its multiple-arch architecture. This type of construction is extremely rare: only two exist in Europe. When it was commissioned in 1953, the dam created a 45-hectare body of water, generating around 7 million kilowatts. It is also a site for night carp fishing: twelve stations are located on the right bank of the reservoir. This no-kill fishing, authorized from April1 to November 30, is highly regulated (contact the fishing federation).
