MASGOT VILLAGE
Association organizing various activities in the village of Masgot, engraving and bas-relief sculpture workshops
On this commune is an extraordinary place: the village of Masgot, with its naive sculptures made by François Michaud (1810-1890). This mason, a self-taught stonemason and farmer, made at least thirty-five pieces. His works in granite represent animals (badger, buzzard...), characters (the bearded man, the crusader...) and decorations full of symbols (Napoleon I, Marianne, Jules Grévy...). All year round, the association of the Friends of the Stone of Masgot proposes various activities in the village: guided or free, playful or classic visits, exhibitions, introductory courses in stone sculpture for the whole family (including children), workshops in engraving and bas-relief sculpture, as well as events in summer and for Halloween.
