SAINT-MARTIAL CHURCH
The church is home to three beautiful bas-reliefs and numerous sculptures
Built in the 12th century as a former dependency of the Order of Malta, Saint-Martial church was burnt and pillaged by the English in the mid-14th century, during the Hundred Years' War. It was rebuilt in 1425 and the bell tower added in 1850. The church contains three fine 15th-century bas-reliefs: the Towers of Rhodes, God surmounting the "anchored cross" escutcheon of a commander of the Aubusson family, and the Virgin carrying her child on her right arm. Numerous sculptures also adorn the building.
