THE MONEYROUX HOTEL
The Hôtel des Moneyroux is one of the city's most beautiful buildings
Known as the "Château des Comtes de la Marche", the Hôtel des Moneyroux is one of the town's finest buildings. Built in the 15th century on the orders of Antoine Allard, it comprises two right-angled wings opening onto a courtyard. If you look closely, you'll recognize the flamboyant Gothic style that heralds the Renaissance, notably through the presence of mullioned windows. Since 1962, the mansion has been the headquarters of the Conseil Général (now Conseil Départemental) de la Creuse, and can only be visited with a guide and by appointment.
