FROMAGERIE CHAVEGRAND
This family business was created in 1952 by Raymond Chavegrand. At that time, he began to collect eggs and farmer cream which was subsequently converted into butter. From 1957, the house begins to collect milk in the farms to manufacture cheese of soft paste with flowered crust. Little by little the harvest of eggs and cream decreased to finally be abandoned in 1970. In 1971, 4 000 litres of milk per day were collected and 2 000 camemberts were produced. Since then, production has developed greatly. Milk collection is carried out in 93 producers, grouped in 6 departments: Indre, Creuse, Charente, Haute-Vienne, Allier and Puy de Dome. Chavegrand produces several cheeses: Carré le Snack, Petit Snack, Brie Mariotte, Old Porch, Anjou, Coulommiers le Berger, Camemberts…
