L'ÉGLISE DU BOURG
The church in Mérinchal, with two chapels: Villelume to the north and La Mothe to the south.
This beautiful church was founded in the 14th century and comprises two chapels: the one to the north, known as the Villelume chapel, and the one to the south, known as the Mothe chapel. It houses two listed items of furniture: the eagle lectern and the 17th-century wooden altarpiece. The altarpiece's central painting, depicting the Assumption of Mary Magdalene, was donated to the commune in 1848 and is a copy of a work by José de Ribera in Madrid. The parish's priests and wealthier families were buried in the church until the 17th century.
