CASTLE OF THE MOTHE
12th century L-shaped castle, a former feudal dwelling with a moat and a stair tower, which has had many uses
Built in the 12th century by the Knights Templar, Château de la Mothe was once a feudal dwelling with a moat. Stories of underground tunnels and a golden calf, buried by the Templars when they left and never found, have been passed down from generation to generation. Visually, the château forms an "L" shape, with a spiral staircase tower joining the two wings. The Le Loup family coat of arms can be seen on the entrance door. Today, the château is used as a showroom, gîte, town hall, etc. Its wooded grounds are home to the municipal campsite.
