The start of this walk is scheduled to take place at Place de la Mayade, in Royère-de-Vassivière. Before leaving, if you wish, you can obtain the topo-guide of the itinerary from the Tourist Office, or in the Tourist Offices in the vicinity. Otherwise, you can rely on the yellow markers that accompany you. Note on the way that most of the crosses you come across are located at the exit of the village or hamlet, towards the village where the church is built. In the past, when an inhabitant died, it avoided the least able-bodied to travel to the place of the funeral ceremony: they stopped at the cross, and it was here that they paid their last tribute to the deceased.
