CHURCH OF SAINT-MARTIN-CHÂTEAU
This church built in the 12th and 13th centuries, dominates the countryside
The Romanesque church of Saint-Martin-Château, built in the 12th and 13th centuries, then rebuilt in the 15th and 17th centuries, dominates the countryside. Its bell tower, square on the outside and round on the inside, is totally isolated from the rest of the building, which is rare in Creuse. On the other hand, its wooden shingle roof is typical of the region. Worth seeing: a pointed arch enfeu sheltering a bed in the south outer wall and a painted Virgin Mary on a granite base at the entrance to the cemetery adjoining the church.
