ST. JULIAN CHURCH
Saint-Julien de Saint-Vaury church, built in the century, features a choir and an astonishing openwork concrete bell tower
Built in the 13th century, Saint-Julien church was for many years a dependency of the Saint-Martial de Limoges abbey. In 1921, a fire caused by lightning destroyed the bell tower. The Perret brothers, who were also responsible for the church in Le Raincy, were in charge of the project. Their astonishing openwork concrete bell tower is one of the designs that inspired Le Corbusier.
Nearby, an older church perched on a hillside, don't miss the chapelle Saint-Michel, with its traditional chestnut shingle bell tower.
