BUSH COVER
A must-see cache of the maquis, built in the forest by several comrades during the Second World War
The Limousin was a land of resistance and important maquis developed there during the Second World War. Georges Guingouin, a Resistance fighter since 1940, built this cache in the forest with several comrades. The small group of men sheltered there from March to the fall of 1943, before building other shelters in the forest. The current cache was reconstructed following the advice of former local resistance fighters. It consists of branches assembled in place of walls and is largely buried. The "passeurs de Mémoire" (memory brokers) offer various accompaniments (bus, interventions on sites, hikes, school accompaniments) on the theme of the Resistance, contact the tourist office for more information. The tourist office also organizes two summer hikes to discover the history of the maquisards. The veterans' association (ANACR) also periodically plans a hike on this site. This maquis is known to have been the origin of the FTPF (French partisan fighters).
