THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE
City of character typically Limousin preserving some vestiges of fortifications
Perched on its rocky outcrop in a meander of the river, "the pearl of the Gartempe" offers a pleasant break on the road. A typically Limousin town of character, it has preserved some remains of fortifications. Pretty terraced gardens laid out on its slopes descend to the bottom of the valley. In the detours of its medieval alleys, you will discover the Sainte-Thyrse church with its Romanesque and Gothic architecture, the chapel Notre-Dame de Toute Bonté, the Moustier suburb, among other historical districts. The tourist office offers guided tours (paying) for groups of 10 people or more, and by reservation.
